3 Reasons You May Need A Mentor

You probably got your CDFA™ for the same reasons that I did. Perhaps you went through your own divorce or were a child of divorce and are compelled to help those going through it. Or maybe you’re more business minded and realized that a great way to acquire new wealth management clients is by niche marketing in divorce. Regardless, you had an idea that the certification would allow you to have business opportunities that you otherwise wouldn’t.
If you’re like me, you also quickly realized that once you got the credential, clients and area attorneys didn’t start beating down your door! When I realized that, my inner entrepreneur jumped up and went to work!! 18 months later I was averaging about 5 cases a month.
If your inner entrepreneur is not jumping up, or is more likely cowering in the corner saying “NO! NO! It’s too scary!!!”, then a CDFA™ mentoring program might be just what would coax him/her out!
1. Clarifying Your Business Model and Niche
Working in the realm of divorce is a niche in itself but there are no less than 10 niches within the field. Do you know which one you want to pursue? A mentoring program could help you focus in on a tighter market. If you try to market to everyone, you in essence market to no one. A mentoring program will also help with specific marketing ideas for your chosen niche.
2. Nuts and Bolts of How to Do It
Are you baffled at what to do when you actually get clients? Do you have a retainer agreement? A new client packet? Do you know what your process will be? All of these mysteries can be revealed with a mentoring program and you’ll quickly find it’s not nearly as complicated as you thought. The beauty of my mentoring program is I provide all the documents that I’ve created in editable form so you can customize them to your own practice. There’s about 50 hours of your time saved right off the bat!!
“If you try to market to everyone, you in essence market to no one.”
3. The Art of the Trade
Probably the scariest thing of all when first starting out is not the gathering and inputting of data, it’s what the heck to do with it once you have it! There’s a fine art to creating and suggesting creative settlement ideas that are true out-of-the-box thinking. A mentoring program can help you crash down the walls of the box and open your mind to new possibilities.
Are you ready to turn your credential into an actual profitable business? Want to do it quickly and not take 18 months like I did? If so, a mentoring program is the way to go for sure. It will be the best money you ever spent.
